Yeah, off list would be fine. Bit of background, I'm not looking to negotiate, just seeing what the market is like.
I have a bit of anmoninity, in that I don't think I've ever named my employer (and if I have and you remember, Shhhh). They are not related to the programming scene, and they have chosen to comprise their IT department with 2 specialists (me and a network contractor) vs. a generalist. I'm more than cool with my rate, in that I get to work from home and put in 60+ hours on a toolset I get to take with me. The reason I was asking is just wondering what they could expect if I ever parted ways from them, either by my doing or theirs. My management, sales and industry specific experience also add a bit of value. Yeah, downside of sharing the financial info is that one of you could then come along and say "I'll do it for less", or it may breed resentment in your colleuges about how bad they feel to be getting so much more than you. :P It always makes for good discussion, though. This thread may be more popular than the great "Best Practice" episode of '05. ;) Chad Who is happy with his place in this world. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Barry Beattie Sent: Friday, 18 March 2005 12:23 PM To: CFAussie Mailing List Subject: [cfaussie] Re: Pay Checks good points, Spike for those who might want to help Chad on this (keeping in mind he's new-ish to this country and there's always a learning curve even if it's equating AU$ to US$) they can always mail him directly and keep it a bit more private.. at least he's got the guts to actually live in this country and it's not another case of "offshoring"... just a thought barry.b > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Spike > Sent: Friday, 18 March 2005 11:09 AM > To: CFAussie Mailing List > Subject: [cfaussie] Re: Pay Checks > > > The problem with making your salary known publicly is that it very > rarely serves any self interest.
