It already has. Partical effects, bitmap caching and overall player
performance is in my view a bit of a "testing the waters" approach.

3D would be a boon, but in terms of FLEX? from what i've been reading
in various lists and conversations, FLEX and 3D are like Office and
3D.

FLEX is having teething problems in terms of getting a solid developer
base to use the product, so many developers out there are scratching
their heads as they now shrink wrapped power tool opened and sitting
there going..."htf do i put it together, wheres that damn instruction
booklet".

I've spoken to approx 50-60 new comers to the product through friends,
consultanting, general queries via MossyBlog etc.. all consistently
come up with the beef... learning ActionScript and MXML together.

Most if not all seem very competent in programming (ie know other OOP
style languages). Spike and I had a conversation yesterday about the
pro's/con's of what a FLEX framework should have - my current
framework for flex tends to hand hold developers while they get
started, and that's not really a good basis for a framework (which I
agree wit spike ...now...bah, damn irishman always has a way to shoot
my theories down..heeh) but that being said, its situation that calls
for it and in truth may give them the legup to the next level at the
very least.

So.. throw in 3D? it might be feasible - it could work, but
realistically what would be the user base that would use it in
Enterprise level companies? ACAD situations are the only ones i can
think of - here at work they'd *Probably* use it, but doubtful.

Oh..keep in mind, Flash Developers alone have a hard enough amount of
trouble using the 2D drawing API that comes with FLASH now...

Its just a big ask imho and i'd rather it be in the 'todo pile" for a
while longer.
