It all happened so quickly, just like the Macromedia/Allaire takeover back
in 2002.

But no real defence and apologies to Mark Blair (MM Server Product Manager)
and his team.

It is frustrating when really talented people are the last to know of
decisions made without their knowledge that affect their livelihood.

The subject line of "Bye bye Mark and co" should be considered as a
frustrated response to a re-run of the Allaire/Macromedia takeover that
actually turned out to be a very good move.

I sincerely apologise to Mark Blair and his fellow MM AusPac staff members.
Your team has bolstered the Macromedia name in this region like no-one else
- and made MXDU the premier conference.

Like many of the CFAussie subscribers, 10 years seems like yesterday (for
CFML development), but the Allaire/MM takeover seemed to have only just
settled down. And MM have made such great strides we should all feel foolish
about the doubts, at least for ColdFusion, we had back then.

Mark (Blair) and his team have bolstered to no small degree the use of
ColdFusion in Australia and must be congratulated. I apologise if my callous
description of their contribution was considered as such. Pretty stupid
really and I answer the charge alone.

In the ACT (Australian Capital Territory, ie Canberra) as far as I can see
the use of CFML compared to ASP/ASP.NET is a big worry. It is definitely
losing ground despite CFMX 7 being the best solution.

We have so many talented developers using CFML in Australia (in Brisbane in
particlular) it just get's frustrating that the jobs are 1000 klms from
where you live - or more...

Some of my favourite developers include Queenslanders like Darren Tracey and
Scott Barnes, Kay at PerthWeb (Western Australia), Mike Kear in NSW
(Windsor), and Steve Collins and Ivan in the ACT.

Darren (Tracey) is more famous for hosting the best ColdFusion User Group
meetings in Australia and is a hard act to follow.

10 years for me and might be time to give it all away. I won't of course.
