Yeah... back in good ol 1997/1998 I used to design not code. You may remember me from such designs as Team Fortress 2 and a lot of porn site graphics..i like to think i gave smutt class... i remember being so creative that i used to layer Company brands on the photos to prevent "others" from stealing our pictures...kind of like a watermark. Then there was 3D animation, where i spent a good while studying the art of nurbs and 3dsmax/lightwave.....oh VRML...ahhh so thats how i got into code..i eventually wanted more "creative power". see i wasn't content on sitting on the sidelines watching others hack my designs to death, so i tookup a Mr Bens book and studied my butt off, left my Wacom Graphic Tablet 2D Illustrations behind.... *sob* i miss design world...so easy, and money wasn't bad. > It just dawned on us, hang on, all the CFers are making more money then my > pretty pictures. Which brings me to my next point. Again in the CF World, > in particular Brisbane, its who you know that usually helps you get a job. > Hate to say it, but its true. Thats why no one will hire me. Damn my [EMAIL > PROTECTED] > swave hansom looks! Its a curse I tell ya! it is very "homely" and quite easy to get black listed up here fast. It does pay to know key people in positions, and doesn't pay to piss fellow cf'ers up here off...yerp, we are the capital of CF but we are probably the most incestral bunch of coders yet. ie I am working with 2 people now who know me via previous companies i worked with or code i worked on and they took over.... Jeremy and Job? Dude I've given you a glowing reference or two when asked if knew someone. Point is, you've come a long way in terms of whe you started, in that i'd rate you as an equal in terms of coding and business analyst. See any monkey can punch out CF code, it takes different variables to make up a coder..."business, software development cycles, visual ui development, architectural forsight, technical/hardware know-how, server technology brains, Database Administration know how's etc... Each of us have our strengths in various areas such as CFMX and i'd like to think mr Jeremy here has enough to get the "whitelist" stamp and be stricken forth from thine "blacklist" I'm kidding there is no lists up here...well.....none that we will tell you all about... :) p.s I have to stop ranting on this freaking forum, as i tend to do it through-out the day and for some reason go "wtf am i working back so late each day....oh ..i know..." I am cutting my rant quota down now, so don't be shocked all. -- Regards, Scott Barnes http://www.mossyblog.com http://www.flexcoder.com (Coming Soon) --- You are currently subscribed to cfaussie as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Aussie Macromedia Developers: http://lists.daemon.com.au/
