Tom,

Size Matters!

varchar(20) takes up less physical disk space than a tinytext, but 20
characters can be a bit limiting when dealing with Indian and Pakistani family
names. Id prefer to use 30 characters myself.

A blob field can hold binary information ( word documents, images etc).

Just wondering...

What's better for a name - tinytext or varchar(20) - or doesn't it
matter.

And what's the difference between a blob field and a text field?

Tom
