If cfdocument works the way every other PDF generator works then you need to look at the data being input rather than the program creating the PDF. In regards to text, as long as the font that is chosen is either and internal font or one supplied in the correct format (usually Adobe/Postscript) then the text will render to the quality of the output device. If what you're doing causes the system to embed the text as a bitmap then that will cause problems. Where resolution is relevant is in any images that are included. Unlike the text, what's supplied is what comes out, with the renderer doing any necessary conversions on the fly. If you want 200dpi image quality you have to supply 200dpi images. You could supply, say, 600 dpi (or 2400) and the output will be scaled down to 200dpi. Going the other way with something like a 75dpi will cause noticable loss of quality. There might be some cfdocument specific issues but I haven't had enough exposure to know for sure.
