Haven't followed this thread, but; <cfif isDefined( MyQuery.VariableColumn )>
takes the value of MyQuery.VariableColumn and tries to see if it is defined. <cfif isDefined( "MyQuery.VariableColumn" )> On the other hand just checks if MyQuery.VariableColumn is defined.
