Excuse me but isn't this the reason CFMX ships with the very capable Jrun
server?
Initially it was daunting (never really used a J2EE server before) but I can
now offer multiple "instances" at leisure.
However I did not, instead I integrated the Flex Dev into my existing CFMX 7
environment so I can run Flex code where I run my CF apps.
This is only one of the reasons I am thankful for MM going down the J2EE
root. Indeed the instructions to do this are hard to find on a site the
scale of MM.com but if I can do it - heck anyone can. And you can instruct
the Jrun Admin console what ports you need to use - or frig around with XML
config files if need be.
Anyway the default port for the CFMX built-in web server (Jrun powered) is
8500 and not 8300. However with a text change and restart you could run of
port 80 if you wanted to - but seriously consider the EULA.
I would invest more in learning more about Jrun (MX7 in particular is more
than ever a java application).
Earlier post about the built-in server are correct as it is aimed at
development only - not for production use - and Macromedia have made this
plain.
ColdFusion MX 7 Dev with Flex 1.5 Dev rocks. Mind you I have Flash Comm
Server 1.5 Dev also but do not think this is J2EE just yet (but I still love
it!).
The best thing Allaire and Macromedia did was rebuild CF in java!
