Thanks for that Gary it was exactly what I was after.  Didn't have time to do 
much background research but which came first IE DOM Inspector or the Firefox 
developer tool, maybe one begat the other.

There is also an excellent HTTP Analyzer tool as well (that gives you the HTTP
