Go BARRY Go bout time.

The current ibook models are g4's for 1500 bucks...

The issue you will have is ram.....  CF7 looooves ram.  But fill your ibook up and you wont have a problem.

i have been running coldfusion for a couple years now with a mac and had absolutely no issue with performance on my various models of laptops.

however i do find a little bit of a performance increase on a dual g5 xserve than my powerbook :P

I've been watching a sysadmin friend doing great stuff with an Apple iBook (thanx to the Free-BSD based OS he feels right at home)

So, while the whole (Apple-sympathetic) world would love a powerbook if they haven't got one already, what about the humble 1.33GHz iBook for CF7 dev? not for power-user every day use, obviously...

why an iBook? mostly battery life. Up to 5 hours is pretty good. None of the people with Intel laptops I know get anywhere near that (eg: a Dell Inspiron 5160 is usually 1-2 hours)
why not a powerbook? price!

anyone done this? does it work at a pinch or is CF7 too hungry for resources?

thanx from "cheaper than homebrand" barry.b
