I have changed but still says the same when I change the output to both 

#welcome# and #content.welcome# so it looks like it needs to be
declared somewhere?

on other examples from fusebox website it puts content.welcome as the
contentvariable and then in the layout files they just call it like
#content.welcome# and it pumps out, but I think they are 4.05 and mine
is 4.1 version of Fusebox? but I dont think this should matter.
