Mike, Totally agree with you, I had this same
argument with the famous Sean Corfield on another list last year. If there is so many sales of CF, were are
all these jobs then? And whatever happened to Sean Corfield? Regards From:

[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mike Kear Amusing thought that might be Darryl, there is a serious underlying
issue here - I was pilloried for saying this a while back, but I honestly
havent seen anything to change my mind - I am being forced to the conclusion that coldfusion is a dying
business in the Sydney area. ALL of the large sites I've had contact with
are telling me that they're still using Coldfusion but are going to change to
something else - usually either .net or java. When I said this a year ago, I was thumped and told that i was just
being negative and that dozens of new servers were being sold. I was told
that Macromedia were running themselves ragged from one end of the country to
the other selling servers. Well if that's the case, where are
the development contracts? The development shops that do have developers seem to be hanging on to
them and there is very little movement as far as I can see, or there'd be
jobs. In my experience, the development shops in Sydney are so
stable they dont even accept calls from job hunters like me. Or am
I looking in the wrong places? In the past three months I've put myself up for every single coldfusion
job that I've found, and all but one of them have been put on hold or not
proceeded for one reason or another. Of course, I'd gladly love to be proved wrong. Perhaps I am
looking in the wrong places. But here I am, an experienced ColdFusion
developer with a track record and a lot od additional experience to bring to
the table, and not even getting to interviews. The only place I see
coldfusion work is in the USA, where I'm forced to bid for
work. If anyone knows where I can find contract work in the Sydney
area I'm all ears. Even part time. I've been looking for contract work for over three months now since my
previous employer went broke taking several thousands of my dollars with
him. There are very few coldfusion development jobs coming up in
the Sydney area. If all those servers were going in as Macromedia said,
where are the development contracts going with them? Cheers On 8/31/05, Darryl
