thanx Steve, that's what I thought:

it's either IE with - or without - ActiveX, so if it's needed, only allow the 
servers' browser to very restricted areas (localhost, windowsupdate, etc).

it's selling the idea of allowing IE to have ActiveX enabled on the server at 
all that's the clincher. Best practices 'n' all....
