This month at CFUG QLD:
Continuing our regular (yet still new) day of the week, time and location.
This meeting is on our new first Tuesday of the month night, at our regular
6:30pm start time, and in our newer new CBD location, high in the Riverside
Centre at the offices of ABN AMRO Morgans.
The lifts to the meeting level are secured, so please try to be there
before 6:30pm, to save someone having to come and get you.
We'll be continuing with another quick instalment of the "Easing into Web Architecture" series. This month sees Barry Beattie do a quick refresher with MVC patterns and best practices with CFCs and then shows some uses of the "decorator" design pattern (and how it compares to composition) as well as the "factory" method of creating CFCs.
We'll also be replaying Raymond Camden's Macrochat titled "Verity for Fast Text Searching".
Want to do free text searches like Google in your sites? Afraid of
ColdFusion's Verity search engine? Come to this introduction to Verity
and learn how easy text searches can be whether you are searching
databases or documents. This Macrochat will focus on the updates to
Verity in ColdFusion MX7.
(Ray will be briefly covering the basics of Verity. If you want to read the docs ahead of time. The live docs are located here:
http://livedocs.macromedia.com/coldfusion/7/htmldocs/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=ColdFusion_Documentation&file=00001301.htm#1164916 )
Scott Barnes has also offered to give us a special sneak peak at the latest offerings from Mach II.
The meeting will also have our usual (and ever popular) general open floor
Q&A discussion, so bring your questions and problems.
We will have our regular news update from Macromedia.
As usual there will be free pizza, subways and drinks.
If you haven't already, then please RSVP by noon Tuesday, 6th of September,
as it helps make sure there's enough pizza and subs for everyone.
IF YOU DON'T RSVP, YOU DON'T GO IN THE PRIZE DRAW!
Send that email now!!
Don't miss it.
See you there.
