You mean like I've got on my site - www.compoundtheory.com ?

The basics of the trick with that is pretty absolutely positioning the
left and right column, and setting the middle with margins on either
side.

Running outta my head - something like:

div#left {
 position: absolute;
 left: 10px;
 width: 150px;
}

div#right {
  postiion: absolute:
  right: 10px;
  width: 150px;
}

div#middle {
  margin: 0px 200px 0px 200px;
}

Trying to do it with floats is WAY too painful because of weird issues
with complicated floating.
