Example would be a simple e-commerce application

With regards to usability interaction time with the client can be greatly
reduced (refer to the sample flex store on MM)

Instead of waiting for total pages refreshes, logic can take place on the
client end (quote my narrow minded statement "comparing the functionality of
website to a desktop application") thus reducing the time it takes to make a
purchase, increasing the interaction with client and thus an increase in
visitor to consumer conversion.

Still no business reasons here.

Its not arguing the point, on the contrary I am not saying HTML is worse or
better than Flash; your argument is very narrow minded and has no business
premise. If you say to me we use Flash because - and its not a technology
driven solution and can generate your decent revenue then cool.

But we are still waiting.

Without trying to sound like a Flash Platform sales rep I would say the
following.

Static HTML sucks ass
AJAX is like building sandcastles while the Flash Platform is like building
the Eureka Tower.

It's like comparing the functionality of website to a desktop application.

But I'm not in the mood of arguing the point (although it can be funny)
I'd rather continue creating apps which may have effects on non-flash
developer's opinions.

LOL,

Hate to being you down to earth, but that kind of statement doesn't make
money.

Flash is good yeah, sure you can get a good cross-browser "application",
but most Flash apps not done commercialy and are just Flash for Flash sake -
totally needless animation and sounds. Not many freelance developers can
and or will be able to code high revenue generating applications in Flash -
which are not gimmicks.

I mean look at Flash forms - a perfect example of ColdFusion developers
using Flash for no real business reason. Not because they should do, buit
becuase they can. It's a perfect example of a technology driven solution (of
which Flash invariably is)

Now, I like Flex (not so keen on Flash IDE) as you can develop RIA in a
rapid like environment bit it aint exactly selling like hotcakes. It also
allows for good coding tecgniques - such as my mates Cairngorm framework.

What about SEO? Flash is still unsearchable as far as the web is concerned.

You give us some good business reasons to use Flash over HTML which isn't a
technology driven solution.

HTML vs FLASH is like DINOSAURS vs A1 Stealth Bombers
Catch up to the current decade.

You are kidding? Are you advocating the use of Flash over HTML?

I guess it depends on what type of application you want to build.

Though I can not think of many benefits with rendering html pages over
utilising the flash platform.

Simple answer...... because not everyone wants to use FLEX.

On 10/11/05, Bjorn Schultheiss < [EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

I can see the Coldfusion role changing away from rendering pages.

The new range of Flex apps suggests this shift in coldfusion's role.

Why create dynamic html pages when the data can be provided to a flex
application?

This is a nonsense statement. You cannot justify saying this.

Then again everyone said that about ColdFusion when MM bought Allaire (all 4
versions of ColdFusion ago)
