Flash is good yeah, sure you can get a good cross-browser "application", but most Flash apps not done commercialy and are just Flash for Flash sake - totally needless animation and sounds. Not many freelance developers can and or will be able to code high revenue generating applications in Flash - which are not gimmicks. I mean look at Flash forms - a perfect example of ColdFusion developers using Flash for no real business reason. Not because they should do, buit becuase they can. It's a perfect example of a technology driven solution (of which Flash invariably is) Now, I like Flex (not so keen on Flash IDE) as you can develop RIA in a rapid like environment bit it aint exactly selling like hotcakes. It also allows for good coding tecgniques - such as my mates Cairngorm framework. What about SEO? Flash is still unsearchable as far as the web is concerned. You give us some good business reasons to use Flash over HTML which isn't a technology driven solution.
