That is all well and good, but it just confuses matters in many cases.
If in a single threaded application a page request takes 500ms to
complete, how long will it take in a multi-threaded application? It
depends of course, but certainly not less than 500ms and likely more;
possibly much more if more than one request is for the same 500ms CFM.

Of course the real answer is that there is no answer; you just have to
test. However, I will assert that an application where the average
request is handled in 10ms single threaded is much more likely to
achieve 100pps than an application where the average request is handled
in 500ms multi-threaded.
