Thanks much Gary, that was it! -----Original Message----- From: Gary Menzel [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2003 4:38 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [CFCDev] Ref. a query via getter?
The problem is here: > <cffunction name="delimit" access="public" returntype="string" > output="yes"> > <cfloop query="#getQuery()#"> > <!---I am going to loop here to build the content var---> > </cfloop> > </cffunction> Firstly, load the return value of the getQuery call into a local variable: <CFSET var q = getQuery()> And then dont use the ## notation in the <CFLOOP>: <CFLOOP query="q"> The "query" parameter in <CFLOOP> takes the NAME of a variable. So it just can't handle what you are trying to do by calling getQuery directly and trying to pass the object itself. I have generally found that trying to "compress" steps in Cold Fusion results in ugly behaviour. And, in some cases (such as above), you MUST copy things into a variable because of how the statements work (cf. PreserveSingleQuotes - another example of this type of thing).
