In your example, though, you are not using CFINVOKE on the same instance
created by your CFOBJECT -- so you end up with two different instances of
your Stack CFC because your CFINVOKE is creating its own instance of Stack.

My intent was perhaps unclear originally. I wanted to know if "returning this" was the same as using cfobject. ( It apparently is since they both create an instance). Then I wanted to compare / contrast the two different methods of creating a component instance. There seems to be no noticeably difference.
