I could easyly parse the XML file to get meta information. But i thought, it would be better to call existing methods and add some lightweight new methods. This static information could be useful for a config.xml generator. It was useful for me, because i made a lot of changes in the configuration - and this overview was helping me to see which listeners, plugins, filters, views were already registered.
I'll make sure you get an 'alpha' of my Mach II Analyst program then - it provides an easy way to browse the XML file (it generates human-readable documentation based on the mach-ii.xml). I plan to add features to allow you to edit the XML file as well.
