What I do is simply log all the changes in an update log. In each one of my CFC's, after committing data updates they hit a logger cfc that notes the date/time user and data that was changed. This way Customer Service can view a log of changes made to the account. Even if the changes were made by the customer while visiting the external site.
If someone overwrites another's change, you can at least find the change in the log.
