I think you should still be able to do it. You should be able to run sniffer.exe locally on the cf box and tell it to listen on localhost:8600 (for example) for all traffic destined for your-external-server.com. Then you'll need to change any calls to the external resource to use localhost:8600 instead of the actual public url. This is obviously not a long term solution, but it can be an easy quick-and-dirty debugging tool.
