We had the same discussion going on a few times already on the list... I
think it comes back at least twice a year :-))

I may be wrong but I have the feeling it's also a matter of personal
background, apart from PHP (exceptions were finally introduced with version
5), I never used a language without exception handling. Return codes look
very unnatural and awkward to me. I guess people with roots in older
programming languages may sometimes have a different perspective
