A very good friend of mine who's a CF developer and Oracle 9i DBA is using Oracle 9i with CLOBs successfully, and recommends that you use the DataDirect driver that comes with CFMX 6.1 Updater 1 for your CLOB stuff, and the OCI driver for everything else. In addition, make sure you use bind variables (CFQUERYPARAM) with the type set to "CF_SQL_CLOB".
