Phil, I am actually using the controller with the EXTENDS attribute, and forgive me I am still growing with mach-ii, but I do that so that I can just define the controller as a listener in the xml file and for use in events, and then from the controller cfc grab the other objects I need to handle the grunt work. I have been looking at creating a similar service layer, but haven't quite moved to that point yet. Does that make sense?
Also, we actually were a fusebox shop and decided moving forward our apps would be better suited more OO, that is why we chose Mach-ii, and I have to say I really love it so far. We found it a pretty quick learning curve moving from FB to mach-ii.
