ok heres another one...

<rant> who's implemented their own custom tag libraries???

eg to create their own version of form validation or just to add extra tags eg
date picker control, layout CSS, etc. I've done a reasonably extensive UI
taglib incorporating a fair whack of javascript and DHTML code i've ripped off
from the Internet. eg tab pages, tree lists, etc.

Blackstone has some of this so no doubt have to reevaluate it at some point but
again, not overly impressed with it all. (sheesh.. critical huh)

Heres a JSP taglib for example, nice for struts development i guess..
http://jaffa.sourceforge.net/documentation/presentation/tagLibraries/

nothing radical in that tho, what i'd really like is some layout tags, eg

http://www.dsauder.com/weblog/archives/000221.html

I had to stop myself drooling a little bit when i saw the various layout
options in flex. I have asked this question on this list before and not found
any satisfactory answers, no doubt there is much more Internet than Intranet
development going on hence less of a need for webapplication solutions but
still... tired of using CSS and or blind tables for layout. It's a PITA and a
far cry from the ease of a layout manager as you'd find with a GUI application
language, eg MS winforms,J2EE AWT, etc.

It just pisses me off that their is such a big division between (d)html and
rich client GUI development. I've had a whack at layout tags (using absolute
positiong and javascript) but incomplete at this stage...

</rant>
