Can we step back and let someone define simply what a Data Gateway does? Does it have SQL embedded in it, or is already-generated SQL passed to a "Getter" in the DG and the DG just passes the query on through?
Do you have a separate DAO and DG for _each and every_ object? Back to the topic: I concur with Ray, there are few times you bring back all records, but many times you will bring back more than one record based on a WHERE clause. Where is the filter applied?
