I made one that used the number of seconds since 1/1/2000 -- which required fewer digits than the full date string. Also GetTickCount() is a good value to use.
My algorithm used date, tick count, and then 4 random digits. After that, I "compressed" the number string by converting it into characters. I ended up with about 8 character codes that were pretty good. I'll dig up the code, if that would help give you any more direction. -- Benjamin Pate http://smartcms.tigris.org I have 3 GMail invites for anyone who's interested. ---------------------------------------------------------- You are subscribed to cfcdev.
