well then iso-8859-1 should do ok for your application (except of course for the euro & a couple-three french chars). set the encodings, cfcontent, etc to iso-8859-1 & add the normal


useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=yourEncodingGoesHere

in the DSN's advanced/connection string. if flash forces you to use unicode (i don't see why it should) then use utf-8 as your encodings everywhere.
