FYI, I prefer using cfsavecontent:
    <cffunction name="dump" access="public" output="false" returntype="string"
        hint="Returns saved content of cfdump of CFC variables scope.<br/>
        Throws: nothing">
        <cfset var dumpSC = "" />
        <cfsavecontent variable="dumpSC">
            <cfdump var="#variables#" />
        </cfsavecontent>
        <cfreturn dumpSC />
    </cffunction>
