so i could cleanly pull out the instance. I somehow have a preference for
structures in my views and forms. Not exactly sure why tho'

Sure, this
would work, but the client "could" change the data in the struct that is
returned. I also have a method similar to this (getInstance() is its
name) that returns all the structure of instance
data.
In the next
couple of weeks, I am getting another web developer in my group. We are
planning on him being the UI-type person and I'll stick just to the back-end
development. I want to make sure he doesn't break any "rules" and change
data when it shouldn't be changed.

She's a whack-o. Actually, she's pretty
cute, but not my type. She's a blonde. Her biggest failing is
demanding web stuff that just isn't the right thing to do. But, she's
the client, so to speak.
