My best advise is "Show Them". I have been in environments (as subcontractor) where the large file approach has been in favor. I have pleaded with them to let me do a small project with smaller, more focused files.

It takes time, but as they maintain large file applications and a small file application, the light tends to shine. Eventually they hate maintaining the applications that they have written their way and start to change.

Any suggestions as to good arguments to convince people that lots of little files are better than a few large ones are welcome too!
