As some of you might know, I've been developing the Mach-II Bean Creator over the past few months. A new step has been taken and I've renamed the Mach-II Bean Creator as Rooibos Generator in anticipation of a completely new code base. Rooibos' new home will be at PekoeTools.com. For more information about why I choose Rooibos Generator and its' pronunciation, can be found at this blog entry:

By no means is this a plug or marketing for Rooibos as I'm not intending to charge for it, but a solicitation to the community for comments and suggestions. This version, code named "Rouge", will have a completely new code base and will based in CF instead of javascript. I know some of you like the fact that the tool is fast and can run locally without an application server, but the features I intend to incorporate into Rooibos will not work just with javascript. Rooibos will allows complete customization of beans and TOs to the likes of your coding style or in-house specification via an XML template as well as other possible additions. I do not want Rooibos to become this massive tool that does a lot, but I want it become a tool that does one thing very well.

I've hemmed and hawed over if I should charge a relatively nominal fee or ask for donation to use Rooibos Generator. If I know that *some* people can commit to a small voluntary donation ($15-25 USD) or something off my Amazon Wishlist, I'll release Rooibos without cost. Honestly, I'd like to recoup a small amount to cover the cost of hosting, some tea to drink to support my spare time coding and maybe a night out with my wife. I, like Roger Lancefield, work from home and enjoy a good spot of tea.

By no means do I expect that everyone will contribute. There will always be people who take without a second thought, but I have faith in those that do not. Currently, Google Adsense isn't paying for a half of my hosting costs for the month (half of the clicks are probably my family too) and I have really cheap hosting (<$20/month). I really have no desire to be greedy here and ask an outrageous price to use Rooibos. I guess I just want to know if people can motivate me enough to get this all done on my spare time. Is anyone game?

Best,
.Peter

P.s. In the future (if I learn Java better), I would like to create a Rooibos Generator plugin for CFEclipse as well. I would consider this my gift to the CFEclipse Team...
