yeh if you did it the other way, without using cfinvoke you would have
to do something like this

<cfset var myCFHTTPCFC = 0 >
<cfset var tpResponse  = "" >

<cfset myCFHTTPCFC = CreateObject(.....

<cfset tpResponse = myCFHTTPCFC.doCFHTTP( .....

and then you might as well just var the CFHTTP tag itself. Although
having the component gives you other benifits in terms of flexibility
and re-use.
