Well Mike, you've at least figured out a workaround for me, so I'm deeply indebted :) Now I just need to find every possible place in our code that "NaN" or "-NaN" could be compared to anything else. :(
For user-input, it's easy - we already have a filter that removes HTML tags from user input, so I can add it there - but as I said before, "NaN" is a perfectly valid string that can (and _is_) stored in our database as well :( This _stinks_. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dawson, Michael Sent: Wednesday, June 22, 2005 3:11 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [CFCDev] OT: "NaN" is a reserved word in cf? I got an error with both IS and EQ. No difference there. I tried this and it *didn't* throw an error: <cfset x = "NaN"> <cfset y = 1> <cfoutput> #isNumeric("NaN")#<br /> #(x.equals(y.toString()))# </cfoutput> I'm getting to this thread a bit late, so you may have already tried this.
