Excuse my insolence, but isn't the while idea of UML to analyze and design a problem /before/ you even pick a programming language and start coding? At least that's what we were taught in the 2 UML classes I took. ;) Of course, in the real world geeks love to pick the platform before knowing what the requirements are, so maybe the design before you build idea is just pie in the sky.
