Some thoughts... 1. I heard about a position from a CFUG manager who was studying Ruby on Rails. They wanted a developer with 3 years experience on Rails. Heh... product about a year old... that tells me your "developer position guage" isn't always trustworthy.
2. Scale... means bringing it beyond where you are right now... or does scale mean it can grow for awhile? At what point does something scale? I keep hearing the "scales" argument... but there are no tangible definitions of how much something should scale. Sure everyone wants to grow... but let's be honest... there are some solutions that won't work on Amazon.com or Ebay.com that will work for any site most of us will ever touch. How about looking at appropriate scalling?!? 3. I would like to hear more about gateways (since I only skim the list usually)... does someone have a good CFC write up on the topic? At some point we, the more active members of this list especially, ought to be writing some articles on these topics that explain the terms and the thinking. (WITHOUT BEATING DOWN THE "ANYONE WHO DOESN'T THINK LIKE ME). I personally appreciate all the guys who pour their hearts into sharing the experience and knowledge they have gained with others on this list. Keep it coming.
