Reliable connection is not something every shop considers when setting up a
server. That was the reason for the reply. (And the reply is to the
discussion list, not saying you don't know that... many small shops don't
consider that though.) Then they put a server in their own shop... and don't
do firewalls correct, and many issues. There are no absolute solutions, but
there are many "strong" considerations. That is what I enjoyed about your
post... so in response to "please"... your welcome. :)

Of course you need a good connection to the internet -- how's that any
different than making sure your shared host has all those things?
There's nothing preventing you from getting a dedicated 2CPU box from
the same folks that host your shared solution and implementing what I
suggested. Or making the biz decision to put it in a colo and manage
yourself.
