But isn't this a candidate for Object Oriented design? Surely a Vendor "is a" Contact just as a Client "is a" Contact (or an employee for that matter).
You have to ask these so-called philosophical questions that Hal was talking about. Q: "What does it mean to be a Vendor?" A: We want the name/phone number of someone to call if xyz goes down.
Q: "What does a Vendor do?" A: They support the xyz system.
Q: "What does it mean to be a Customer?"
