Yes, definitely.  Separating out the model is much more important than
disentangling the view and controller.

  That's good to hear.  I'm working with an old application where everything
(model view controller) is all mixed together. I decided to start simply by
removing the "model" code from the pages and then working with the view
portions. In that respect, it sounds like I might have made the right
decision.
