disclaimer: my webservice experiance is only for interop between
enterprise systems, not commercial use. So I'm interested in this to
learn something new.

huh? that read funny to me. Aren't Plans essentially product
offerings, and the user purchases access to those Plans? Just the way
you explained it, both a user and a subscriptionService have something
in common since they can both "own" a plan, so I have to ask how
different is user and service in it's use of a Plan? (in other words,
I can't shake the image of consumer vs producer)
