Done in r151482. I fleshed it out to include tests, as we didn't really have good examples on how those should be written. I also extended it to include header search logic in r151484, and tests for header search logic. Please review the final commits and the tests in particular to ensure that the powerpc tests match what you have on your actual systems. Any corrections and/or further tests (bi-arch -m32 and -m64 based cross-compiling for ppc -> ppc64 and ppc64 -> ppc especially) would be very welcome.
