To relay a bit of conversation between Tanya and I on IRC here for any that may be wondering -- we decided to try to use the actual llvm::Triple::amdil enum rather than a textual check. Not sure yet if there will be problems.
One point of concerns is that, today, the following triple "works", but would mysteriously change behavior with the patch: amd64-apple-darwin10.0.0
