Is anyone able to review and commit these patches?
If not, I'll drop them into the bug tracker so that they don't get
forgotten!
(and in case anyone else discovers that clang crashes with __interface)

Attached, in case it helps, are the patches re-synced against trunk.
I've again split it out into two: the first is the main fix/enhancement,
the
second is the __is_interface_class type trait.
