I just checked and it passed for me on x86-64 mac os x and linux. I think maybe the failure you were seeing was due to the bug Bob fixed in r184870 (which were caught by these tests as you saw = p).
Like you suggested I am going to revert your revert and see if the issue is fixed. Thanks again = ).
