I think that's reasonable; nothing is on fire here beyond the usual "the longer we wait, the harder it is to transition to something different". Moving too fast risks missing crucial information and maybe wanting to take a third try, which would be good to avoid. Also, more time means we could also get input from standards committees as part of the standardization process. I think that effectively means we track this information somewhere (probably in the related issue) but close this PR because the changes (when done fully) would break too much code without a transition period.
