What you're looking for is the ISO Country codes/list

I can't find it at www.iso.org but
http://www.din.de/gremien/nas/nabd/iso3166ma/codlstp1/en_listp1.html has a
recent list.

There are two short forms for countries, 2 letter and 3 letter. Also I
believe the CIA factbook
doesn't use either. Most countries happen to match, but some don't

a search for "iso country codes" may find a more recent list

Be aware that it does CHANGE.

Subject: [CFTALKTor] country list

Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get a database of country names?
I want to populate a dropdown box with all countries, but I don't know
all of them!!!

It would also be nice if there was a database of city names and
province/states and countries, available somewhere.

Thanks.
