We use Crystal report as well, but not with <cfreport> tag. Application makes a direct call to the .rpt file.
But the error that we are getting and yours are could be the same.
Some times Seagate services like Page Server and Web Component Server are stop running. We are still looking for the reason that could course such behaviour. I didn't find anything on Seagate site.
The only work around is to restart both services. After that reports runs fine for a while.

Overall I am very disappointed in Crystal report and we are looking for an other reporting tool.
By the way, if anybody could recommend something I'd appreciate it.

Let us know how it turns out.

Dimitri.

Subject: [CFTALKTor] CFReport error 534

We're experimenting with Crystal reports and CFReport. Seems to work fine for a while then we get an error like this and the only way to get out of it is to restart CF. I see several users on the CF forum have the same problem but no one has posted a solution yet. Any ideas?

Error occurred while processing CFREPORT

An unexpected error occurred while using the Crystal Engine.

Error number 534 ocurred (Error detected by database DLL.).

Crystal Library = C:\WINNT\system32\CRPE32.DLL (1/28/2000 19:16)

DLL Version = 8.0, Engine Version = 8.0

The calling code:

<cfreport report="d:\test\crystal_reports\hosp_detail.rpt"
type="microsoft"
DATASOURCE="admitcall"
USERNAME="user"
Password="xxx">
{Hospital.hosp_num}='#hospid#'
</cfreport>

Using CF version 5.
