:::: INTRODUCTION
---------------------------------------------------
April 25, 2002: Kevin Towes and Byron Bignell here to give you the latest
development of the CFNorth DevCon. Well its been 1 month since our last
newsletter. We had been meaning to publish the newsletter earlier, but the
conference details have been keeping us busy, as you will see reading this
email. There is lots of stuff going on but 2 things stand out; 1) CFNorth
is over 75% sold out and 2)There will be a *major addition* to the
conference that will give perspective on a lot of internet technologies you
will see at CFNorth including Flash MX, Wireless and Web services. Watch
your inbox next week, and the website for the details.
~

:::: CFNORTH IS 75% SOLD-OUT
Byron and I are very excited with the spirit that has erupted in the
community over CFNorth. This spirit will result in a sold-out conference.
Right now, CFNorth is now 75% sold out - we didnt expect this as early as
it is, but its happened. We are finding that many companies are
registering their entire development team. Especially those teams who are
interested in learning more about integrating Flash with ColdFusion, or just
introducing ColdFusion into their development environment. We do have a
limited amount of space for the conference and maybe next year we will
have to find a bigger home, but this year, we are limited so you may want
to consider registering or you risk missing it.

Register Online though our secure E-Commerce server!
http://www.CFNorth.com/

For our American friends remember, Canada has a really LOW exchange rate
offering about $0.63 on our dollar! ($100 CDN = $63 US). You will NEVER see
a conference offering as much CFNorth for as little.

~

:::: NEW CFNORTH.COM WEBSITE LAUNCHED
Its taken a couple late nights, once everyone has gone home, staying late
into the wee hours of the morning to develop and design our new CFNorth.com
website. Why re-launch only 10-days before the conference? The website is
an integral part of CFNorth. Through the weekend, we will be posting updates
and photos from the day. Not to mention our interactive schedule and a very
cool count down ticker. (Dont try to hack it. Zero hour has been disabled
in the online versionJ You will have to attend the conference, where a
conference version will trigger a presentation like youve never seen.
~

:::: FINAL SCHEDULE NOW AVAILABLE
There is one thing about running a conference that has 35 speakers over 2
days. Scheduling is a nightmare. Our CFNorth masterminds have cracked it,
and weve posted the results to the new website. Somehow the team has been
able to develop a flow for almost any level of developer. You will only
have time to take in 8 session and 5 keynotes, so the challenge to ensure
everyone gets to see what they want to see was amazing. If you click on
SCHEDULE on the new site, you will first see all the sessions laid out with
their times and locations. But lets say you are a Flash developer, or a
beginner, or a guru. You can filter-out those sessions that you are not
interested in. Simply use the pull-down menu on the screen to tell the
system to show you only the sessions you should take.

Take a moment and read through the biographies of our speakers. Click on
SPEAKERS and you will find an array of personalities ranging from Hubble
telescope contributors to many authors of your favourite ColdFusion Book.
You can also browse by the session titles, by clicking SESSIONS.
~

:::: NEW SPEAKERS: INCLUDING MIKE CHAMBERS AND ARMAN DANESH
CFNorth just keeps growing right to the wire. We are pleased to announce
that Macromedia Community Manager, Mike Chambers, as seen on the FlashCoders
ListSRV will be presenting some very cool advanced ColdFusion techniques for
connecting Flash with a Database. This session is not to be missed. (But
you have to come to Kevins session first!) Arman Danesh is a Canadian
Author of Mastering ColdFusion (NewRiders), and will be delivering the bulk
of the ColdFusion BootCamp with some celebrity guests at his side. The
ColdFusion BootCamp is our way of building our community. Arman will walk
through the basic steps of starting with ColdFusion. His sessions are a
must-attend if you are a Flash Developer or just want to start developing
with ColdFusion. To add to this list, Mr. Wells Burke from Synthis has been
added to the list to present topics on Fusebox for J2EE applications.
Another Canadian, John Bourke, from eBiz Professionals will walk us
ColdFusion coders who are avoiding Flash through the first steps of working
with Flash and getting started. These additions combined with the already
star-studded cast of speakers will make your experience at CFNorth a
memorable one, and will guarantee you will learn a lot and come away with
new ideas and possibly new visions.
~

:::: NI SOLUTIONS SPONSOR A CFNORTH CYBER CAF
Our Show Sponsor, NI Solutions Group (www.scius.com) has extended their
sponsorship to include a CFNorth CyberCaf. Because the Hotel doesnt have
high-speed internet access in the rooms, this cybercaf is a prime place to
show people, clients or future customers what you or your company are
working on, as well as check your email, or instant message someone.
CFNorth thanks NI Solutions for this generous support, and we invite you to
visit the cyberCaf and the NIS booth for some very cool ideas and perhaps
even talk them into giving you a Slushie.
~

:::: HOTEL UPDATE: FRIDAY NIGHT SOLD OUT
Well, the Hotel is taking a beating from ColdFusion developers. Imagine a
bunch of coders in one hotel all at the same time let alone in Toronto
with busses at their beckoning. Friday Night at the Eaton Centre Marriot
Hotel is sold out. This does not necessarily mean that you cannot stay
there, it just means that our group discount block is full. You will have
to pay full price to stay there. There are still some rooms left for
Saturday under the room block. You had better book soon, though, our you
might be left on the streets of Toronto with your Teddy.
